Cavalaire 2000 - Short report

83 5o5s came to race the year 2000 Cavalaire Europa Cup tour. The turnout was a little less than usual mainly due to the late date in the season compare to previous years and to the fact that kids resumed school in most european countries making it very difficult for parents to come over. The weather was a wonder for the first two days with great sunshine and just enough wind to go out on the wire. The last day was sort of showery/cloudy with great wind at times.

In sort of force 3 to 4 wind on Friday, Ian Pinnell was out of touch with a 2,1,1 However the following day in much lighter conditions he was not able to demonstrate same consistency. Philippe Boite and Jean-Luc Muzellec took the lead of the regatta in sailing consistently at the top of the fleet.

Finally the French won the regatta on Sunday Ian Pinnell finishing second and Mortensen (?) the Danish taking a great third placing. Holger Jess finishing fourth overall.

It was interesting to note that a lot of recent or new boats turned out with many sail number above 87xx. and almost none below 8000, this demonstrates once again how lively our class remains.

I will post full results on the list asap.

Best regards
Jean-Baptiste
