Irish 505 Class Association to Restart?

Earlier this week I received an e-mail from Michael McDonnell in Ireland reporting on a resurgence of interest in the 505, renewed activity, and a probably application to restart the Irish 505 Class Association.

Michael writes:

"Over last year our we have regenerated an interest in the 505 in our sailing club, the boat was previously sailed in Cork harbour in the 70's. The club is Monkstown Bay Sailing Club operating in Cork harbour in southern Ireland. We currently are actively racing 5 boats on a weekly basis and expect this to grow to approx 8 in 2000 as more interest is generated.

I believe there are still pockets of 505's raced in Ireland, approx 7 in Lough Swilly in Northern Ireland. "

Michael goes on to inquire about the procedure for (re)starting the Irish 505 Class Association.

I would encourage anyone interested in 505 sailing in Ireland to contact Michael McDonnell at MichaelM@sai.ie.
