I've just acquired a 505 sailboat that has been sitting out for a number of years in the weather and as a result the center board box as well as its lateral supports have rotted and need replacing. The center board itself was badly warped, I ended up removing its outer fiber glass covering, separating the laminated wood pieces with the hopes of digging out the rot, filling in any voids and reglueing. The bow covering has become ' unstuck' resulting in water/leaves/debruis etc. to have collected there rotting any wood fastened to the inner hull. Can anyone direct me on the best use of materials / procedure etc. to do the job properly. I only want to do this once. Any suggestions on the repair of a rear side hull breach would also be helpful.

Not sure if you're in the UK, but there is a centreboard case on ebay:

Good luck

Thanks, but I'm up in the great white north in Canada, just north of Lake Superior. I'm sure it would prove costly to inmport the ebay CB case. Mike.

Mind sending me a few pics of the boat? I may be able to offer some advice on the rebuilding. My email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. In terms of the centreboard, there are 2 standard boards that should fit your boat for sale on the Canadian class website. Probably a lot easier than trying to repair a badly warped board. Good luck.
