It would be great if it was a database and individual users were able to update.

I just took a brief look at the registry and, although it is a wealth of great information, it is not in a format that lends itself to easy delineation. I can easily create a huge database out of it, but it would be very time consuming to get information into the correct columns (even years are not input reliably; sometimes month first, sometimes year).

Maybe this larger database is a good start...

This little task of getting the info into the correct columns is what I've volunteered myself for (references from the asylum to follow). Still it's progressing OK - what else is there to do over the Xmas period!!! Having now entered the data for the 6*** and 7*** boats I would agree that it would make sense for individuals to update their boats. A lot of info is missing/out of date. But I guess secure access would be the issue - something for the moderator(s) to consider??

Well boys, here it is (html format). Apologies for any errors that might have crept in during the translocation of data. I've checked it a couple of times but I'm sure there will be mistakes that I've missed. Best way will be for individuals to check their entries and let me/JR know. I'll be happy to correct any remaining errors if required.

Any plans to upload the pre 6500 details to the new registry ?

Iainman, great effort - thank you. I have uploaded the new code to the boat registry page and added a "Last Updated" column.

I suppose the next thing to do would be create a "boat registry update" form on the website that users fill in and the boat registry record gets automatically updated in the database. Again, if there is anybody out there with some php/MySql coding knowledge that would like to take on this task, please let me know.
