Hi guys. (Sorry Admin, for placing this thread in the wrong place, don't know how to move it)

So, i'm a newbie to the 505 class, in Denmark.

I've been sailing the Optimist class for many years, and the A-cat in the past two seasons.

The A-cat is a very simple boat to rig and sail - but i've found out, that that's not the case with the 505 (mine is a 1984)

Does anyone know where to find detailed rigging instructions? I can't seem to manage to get all the wires and everything in place 100% right. I'd love i vido of a complete rigging, including the mast attachment and everything, since i'm probably going to replace every single vital part on the boat this weekend, and therefore, i'm going to have to get all the basics right.

Thank you in advance for your help - and sorry for being such a dumb-a** :-)

Best regards!

Christian

I don't know if you've gotten any replies to this but you might want to post on Sailing Anarchy.
The problem with 505's is they're all rigged differently.
What make is the boat? What #? Someone might know it and be able to help.
Does it have adjustable shrouds? Block and tackle or levers?
Does the forestay terminate at the mast or does it go through a sheave?
I'm assuming a single spinnaker pole? Does it have a spiro launcher?
Try to get ahold of someone from the Denmark 505 class to help you out. The boats are complicated and take a while to figure out.

I wish I had seen this earlier. I was in Copenhagen last week and might have been able to help.

Good Luck,

The best bet is to talk to the local fleet. See "contacts" under Regional officers. In alternative you go to "the 5O5" section scroll to "class admin" then "old web site archive" there you can find a lot of pictures and detailed descriptions.

Have fun

Christian,

Please go to the Danish 505 Class Associations website, int505.dk. Under Klubben -> Bestyrelse you'll find a number of emails. Please feel free to contact any one of us, and we'll get you in contact with the people nearest you. If you are in Jylland (Jutland for non-natives), that'll be me :-). Most of the active fleet is on Sjælland (Zealand).

Regards
Mads
