Notice of Race

International 505 Class European Championship 17th-24th August 1996
Silvaplana, Switzerland

  1. The regatta will be governed by the International Yacht Racing Rules of the International Yacht Racing Union, the Swiss Yachting Union (USY), the International 505 Class Rules of the International 505 Class Yacht Racing Association and the Sailing Instructions of the Segelclub St. Moritz.
  2. This regatta is classified as a Category B Event in accordance with Appendix A3 of the International Yacht Racing Rules.
  3. This regatta is open to yachts of the International 505 Class that meet the eligibility requirements of the Class Rules and Appendix A1 of the International Yacht Racing Rules. All competitors must be member of the International 505 Class.
  4. The number of entries will be restricted to 80 boats. Selection will be made by the national associations.
  5. Eligible yachts may enter by paying the required fees, returning the attached entry form and a copy of the measurement certificates to their national secretary before May, the 31st,1996.
  6. National Secretaries shall send all entry forms, copies of the measurement certificates and payments to Dominik Haitz before June, the 15th, 1996.

    All bank fees shall be charged to the competitor's account! (cheques cost SFr. 10.-- to process)

  7. The required fees are SFr. 200.-- per yacht. Competitors wishing to display advertising in accordance with the International Yacht Racing Rules Appendix 3, should indicate their intention on the entry form, have to pay twice the fee and must comply with any conditions imposed by their National Associations. Payable to the national secretaries.
  8. The championship will start at Saturday, 17th of August 1996 and will last till Saturday, 24th August 1996. The schedule of events is as following:

    Saturday, 17th.			 registration and measurement (12-6 pm)
    Sunday, 18th.			 registration and measurement
    				eventually practice race
    				6 pm opening
    Monday, 19th through Saturday, 24th.	7 races
    Saturday, 24th, 3 pm		 Last possible start
    
  9. Random measurements may be taken at the discretion of the measurer. For that purpose each yacht shall bring its measurement certificate.
  10. The sailing instructions will be available upon registration and after the measurement at the race office.
  11. The regatta site will be at the south-western end of Lake Silvaplana, municipality of Sils i. E., Engadin, Switzerland. It's possible to transport 40 ft Containers up to St. Moritz (for further information please contact the Swiss National Secretary).
  12. All competitors shall have cover against third party liabilities. The race organisers shall not be liable for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the competitor, as a result of their taking part in race.
