NOTICE OF RACE
1998 Planing Boat Regatta
October 24-25, 1998
Mission Bay Yacht Club
San Diego, CA
Mission Bay Yacht Club is pleased to invite all 505 Sailors to participate in the 1998 Planing Boat Regatta. The event is open to all International 505’s, Flying Dutchman, Johnson 18’s and will be a great opportunity to bring attention to the local 505 fleet. In addition, there will also be a "Classic 505" division for boats with hull numbers lower than 6500
RULES
The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules Of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the USSA, the rules of the International 505, Flying Dutchman, and Johnson 18 classes, except as any of these altered by the sailing instructions. The regatta is designated Category B.
ENTRIES
Eligible Yachts may enter by completing registration and paying the entry fee of $20.00 ($25.00 for non USSA members) at Mission bay Yacht Club before 1000 October 24,1998. Eligible competitors shall be declared eligible by the International 505, Flying Dutchman, and Johnson 18 Class Association and the organizing fleets (In the case of the 505’s, you have to have a boat, it must float, and you must want to race).

The sailing instructions will be available at Mission Bay Yacht Club 01 October, 1998

The order of the starts will be Flying Dutchman, International 505 (Classic division included), Johnson 18.
THE COURSE
The starting line will be in the Pacific Ocean approximately one mile northeast of the Mission Bay jetty. The courses will be depicted on the Mission Bay Ocean Sailing Instructions and will feature triangle-windward leeward courses.
SCORING
The low point scoring system, Appendix A2.2 of the racing rules will apply. The series total will be scored, there will be no discards. This modifies RRS A2.2
PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place skippers and crews of the International 505 in both divisions. The number of trophies may increase dependent upon number of entries received by Oct 10, 1998.
