Cape Cod: Popular for All Summer Activities
Massachusetts is one of the six states that make up the New England Region. The capital of Massachusssets is Boston, New England's largest city by far.
Hyannis is located seventy miles southeast of Boston on Cape Cod. Extending seventy miles into the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Cod is a penninsula having an abundance of beauty and charm. It is a very popular vacation area with over 300 miles of coast line, abounding with beautiful beaches. Being a major resort area, there are plenty of activities including: theatre, museums, fresh and salt water fishing, biking amateur baseball, winsurfing, golf (over 40 golf courses), historic sights, antiquing, shopping and plenty of night life. A great area for family and friends. From Hyannis you can plan a day trip by ferry to the Islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Nantucket, once the greatest whaling center in the world, is full of charm and beauty that is unique to this island. Martha's Vineyard, with gingerbread houses, quaint fishing villages and the beauty of Gay Head Cliffs is a must see.
Hyannis is not just a great sailing venue, it is the perfect vacation destination, where you can do as much or as little as you like.
Hyannis Yacht Club
The facilities are excellent and very family friendly. There is a beach and protected bay directly in front of the Club. The most popular New England windsurfing area is only a half mile up the beach.
A very large arial view of the Club and Beach
There is a large lot and parking area adjacent to the club. This area has easy access to a long beach for launching. A North Sails loft, several chandleries, and long time 505 sailor Karl Anderson's Boat Shop are all near by.
The club setting is very picturesque. There is a restaurant at the club. The patio area directly in front of the club is on the beach. The area is tented and available to family and friends. For sailing events there is a bar set up on the patio. This area is directly adjacent to the dinghy park. In addition to the bar, the club runs cookouts for reasonably priced meals and nightly entertainment.
This is a great club with friendly people. The members love 505's and the unique location of the club gurantees an enjoyable time for sailors' families and friends.

Nantucket Sound
Chart of Sailing Area
The characteristics of Nantucket Sound are those of all great sea breeze areas. Its onshore wind flow appears at midday, increases steadily in velocity to peak late in afternoon, and is directly proportional to the disparity between the heating of the land and the coolness of the water. Its high velocity is consequent to the alignment of the sound with the southerly weather system flow. High pressure lingers off the coast in summer providing such flow for long periods. Most of the East Coast is aligned North-South and its sea breeze is an easterly. Protruding capes such as Cape Cod, however are aligned East-West. Thus Nantucket Sound's sea breezes are southerlies. The Nantucket Sound sea breeze also benefits from the presence of Martha's Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands between its waters and the ocean source of the sea breeze.
The sea breeze of Nantucket Sound, combined with water termperature of 70's (F) and air temperature of 85's (F), make it ideal for 505 sailing. Come join us for warm water, waves, great sailing, and a lot of fun.
