Morning race has separate 505 class start, afternoon race is a handicap race with a 'race within a race' if a class has 6 or more entrants.
Cost - £30.00 for each series or £50.00 for both or £6.00 on the day for those who like to enter a day at a time. Cost includes helm, crew and boat park (plenty of space available in boat park). Draycote Water delivered 25 -30 knots to greet the competitors on Saturday morning but after a short postponement the fleet got away first time for race one, Paul Lovesy and Andy Mathews screamed down the reaches in first place only to be flattened by a monster gust just after the leeward mark. Simon Payne and Bill Masterman pulled away from the chasing pack, kept the boat upright and won race one, Stuart Turnbull and Jason Lunn secured an excellent second with Dave Peacock and Chris Hewkin third.
Race two saw similar winds and it was Dave Peacock and Chris Hewkin's turn to be destroyed by a killer gust at the leeward mark, Payne and Masterman survived a "moment" with the spinnaker to win comfortably from Turnbull and Lunn with Clive Robinson and Gary Cawthorne 3rd. With many retirements, tired and bruised crews found themselves faced with equipment to repair and for many a few relaxing beers were needed to ease the aches and pains.
Sundays shifty light winds and short courses were a welcome respite and Race 3 got underway after a general recall. It was National Champion Ian Pinnell crewed by John Ironmonger together with Payne and Masterman who pulled clear of the chasing pack, finally finishing in that order with Martin Goult and Gordon Russell taking 3rd.
Race 4 saw Robinson and Cawthorn first at the windward mark, they sailed well to hold the lead to the finish with Pinnell and IronMonger coming through to take 2nd place. Payne and Masterman finished 3rd and clinched the 1999 inland championships.
With more wind in the final race 2nd place was still up for grabs, Pinnell and Ironmonger won the race, Payne and Masterman came through to second but Robinson and Cawthorn's 3rd place secured second spot overall with overall third place going to Turnball and Lunn.
