The logotype belongs to Cargolux who sponsored two Swedish teams trip to the '85 worlds in Enoshima in Japan. We sent the boats with their jumbojet flying from Luxembourg to Hongkong where they were shipped together with the HK fleet container to Enoshima. Some weeks later we flew with one of Cargolux jumbo airfreighter to Taipei in Taiwan where we spent 4 days before the trip to Tokyo. A memorable worlds for sure! Paul Elvstrom beat us then, we was 13th - he and Jacob Boysen-Moller finished 12th I think.
The
image of us reaching into the camera is taken at the Santa Cruz worlds in '92. The spinaker is a Pinnell & Bax.
Another photo is
us reaching close ahead of Tyler/Moore USA-7876 from the Mounts Bay worlds last year.
We were out sailing RS600 on Saturday and Sunday, its almost as fun as sailing 505. But 505 is something different isn't it!! I'm working on my 505 to speed her up again for next years worlds in Gilleleje/Denmark!
Two weeks ago Rebell Sails announced they have signed a franchise agreement with Ulmer Kolius (UK) group which means they get access to their support and Tape Drive technology. During the next two years they will keep the brands Rebell Segel/Ulmer Kolius,UK, so that the Swedish market can adopt to the change. Later on they will be called UK Sailmakers. We will see what surprises there will be out of this for next year.
The Sailboat show a week ago was great, we got a long list of new interested people who wants to know more of the 505. We could not man the stand with people and had no video/PC equipment but I printed your Powerpoint presentations and some color images/newsletters and covered Kristers boat with those.
Krister mentioned he had just been speaking to Kalle Nilsson who seems to have a crew for next year. The crew is the middle man of the swedish olympic team sailing Soling, his name is Johan Barne. The Soling helm is Magnus Holmberg whom Krister had for crew at the La Rochelle worlds where they were so close to win. Magnus and his Soling team is also very good in match racing.
Take a look at URL http://www.sics.se/express/gallery.html Its a picture gallery from Nynashamn, the olympic harbour outside Stockholm where we usually go practising. Here are lots of photos from the swedish championship in the Express, a very popular keelboat. Lars Stugemo, who I sailed with at the worlds in Helsinki, Sydney and Felixstowe is racing this boat with success.
Maybe we could make something out of the idea in having a Swedish 505 page on your server. Now at least we could fill it with some photos!
Have fun!
