Let's Hear it for the Replay

Nobody goes to a regatta hoping to be rained out, but a day of torrential rains and no racing at the 2013 SAP 5O5 World Championship did at least bring the sailors together for a class meeting at the Barbados Yacht Club, while leaving ample time for replaying and (and replaying) the first four races as presented by SAP Analytics. There is always something more to be discovered in speed, tactics, or the interplay of techniques. 

How else would the young Americans, Ted Conrads and Brian Haines, identify a speed deficiency of .8 knot on one leg-and only one leg-as the factor that made the difference?

Seeing Through the Shifting Challenges
There are two casinos within walking distance of the Barbados Yacht Club, and if anybody ought to hit the casinos tonight it's German skipper Stefan Boehm, winner of the opening two races of the SAP 5O5 World Championship and a strategic gambler in both. 

Racing continues through Friday in the sparkling Caribbean off Bridgetown, Barbados, where German sailors hold the top three spots on the leaderboard.  In sailor-talk, Boehm and crewman Gerald Roos started hard-left in race one and led at every mark. They started hard-right in race two and led at every mark except one.

Le Club Nautique d’Antibes Juan les Pins www.club-nautique-antibes.fr organise  du 17 au 20 janvier 2013,  la 40 éme édition de Ski  Voile 2013.  Ce combiné démarrera la compétition par une descente de ski  à la station du Mercantour  de Auron http://hiver.auron.com

Sur l’eau, l’épreuve rassemblera sur le bassin d’Antibes Juan les Pins les classes Dragons, 5O5, Finn, Catamaran C1 et Classe A, ainsi  que la classe des 420.

2013 marquera les 40 années de succès de cette compétition originale qui séduit de plus en plus les équipages internationaux de haut niveau et de nouveaux partenaires.

The Club Nautique of Antibes Juan les Pins www.club-nautique-antibes.fr is organising  the 40th Ski Voile 2013 edition.

This combination event will start in the famous Mercantour ski resort, Auron http://hiver.auron.com/

Then, On Mediterranean basin of Antibes Juan les Pins , the event will gather Dragon, 5o5, Finn, Catamaran and 420  Classes.

2013 will celebrate the 40 th anniversary of this original competition which appeals to international highly skilled competitors and new partnerships.

The 2012 QLD State 505 titles were sailed over the weekend of 20/21 October.  11 boats descended upon Darling Point Sailing Squadron, facing 4, 45 minute races a day on Waterloo Bay with an interesting forecast.

At the end of proceedings Alarm Innovations (Kevin Cameron/Bob Franks) are the 2012 Qld State Champions by 0.25 of a point from Sweaty Betty (Nigel Lott/Sam Heritage) and Robinson Constructions (Jeff Robinson/Lachlan Hornsby).

From the 21st to 23rd of September nineteen 505 boats from Denmark, Germany and Poland gathered together in KamienPomorski to fight for the Polish Championship title. KamienPomorskiis a small town with a beautiful marina situated on the North-West corner of Poland. Thanks to its close location to German border it is well communicated to Germany, Denmark and Sweden. Through neighborhood of Baltic Sea it is known as one of the windiest spot in Poland.

During 3 days of sailing all the planned races were completed. While the first 2 days has brought moderate and shifty conditions on Sunday Kamienhas shown from where its fame comes from. There was up to 30 knots of wind and almost clear sky, so all of us we had a great fun on the water!
