I have just been informed by the Organizers, that the days of racing have been reduced to 2 Sundays. This should facilitate travelling, but Saturday can still be used for training.
I am please to announce that the 505 class has been invited to participate to the Primazona Winter Contest Regatta (a prestigious regatta that has been established for many years). The regatta takes place in Italy in the city of Genoa.
The regatta consists of 2 days of racing, which will take place 7 of February and the 14 of February 2010. Obviously participants can leave the boat at the Club for the entire period 6-14 February and therefore they can drive back without the boat or they can fly from Genoa International Airport.
The regatta is hosted by the Yacht Club Italiano (the most important Club in Italy) on the waters just in front of Genoa., The regatta is a joint effort of all the sailing clubs belonging to Liguria Region. Therefore it is a great opportunity to show 505 to a large number of people who will be attending the event.
Furthermore the President of the YCI is also the President of the Italian Federation of Sailing (FIV) as consequence this is a fenomenal opportunity to advertise the 505 and the Class in Italy. Media coverage is assured for such important event.
We will be sailing with 470 and 420, so with future possible 505ers
Some sleeping facilities are available at the Club.
If 4 days of racing is not enough, I am reminding you that on the 22-24 January the SkiVoille at Antibe is taking place, therefore it will be possible to sail both events and to bring the boat to Genova for the Winter Contest at the end of Antibe regatta.
I hope that many 505s from our neighboring Countries will join the Italian fleet to pubblicize the boat we love and to have a great time sailing on the Med with mild temperature in the middle of winter
