Australian Nationals Preview

Brisbane hosts

On your marks! … Preparation for the 2016 International 505 Australian Championships is underway and it is shaping up to be a truly international affair.

On the back of an outstanding performance in South Africa, current and 2 times world champion Mike Holt and Rob Woelfel will make the journey from San Francisco to Manly, Brisbane, and will show-off their skills using a boat chartered from Sydney.

It will be Aloha from Doug Hagen, long time high performer from Hawaii, who will compete in a borrowed boat from Brisbane.

Also in top form, at this not to be missed regatta, will be multiple Australian champion Mike Quirk. Mike is just returning from a European 505 campaign where he won the French nationals and finished 6th in the recent Swedish European championships amongst a fleet of 95 boats. Mike will be training in Brisbane beginning in October with local sailing celebrity, John Warlow and is sure to be in contention for a podium finish at this event.

Current Australian Champions, Kevin Cameron and Sam Heritage, will be chasing back-to-back wins with the home advantage and local knowledge on their side. It is also a rare opportunity for the current Australian Champions to face off against the current World Champions on home waters.

While the battle arena is set for a showdown of epic proportions it is time to show your commitment and test your metal against a world class field of competitors. Online registration is now open so register your team today to be part of action!
