Purpose of the 505 Web Site

The purpose of this site is to provide information about the International 505 - the preeminent two person racing dinghy in the World - and about the supporting class association. There are two primary audiences for this site.
Current 505 Sailors
If you already own or sail the 505, we don't need to tell you the marketing stuff - you already know why the 505 is the greatest racing sailboat available. There is extensive information on boat handling, tuning, regatta schedules, rigging ideas, how to maintain and repair your 505, contacts, class association information, boats for sale, gear for sale, and just about anything else that might be useful or interesting to a current 505 sailor, anywhere in the world. If you cannot find something, let us know, and we will get the information and make it available here.
Prospective 505 Sailors
If you do not currently own or sail a 505, you may be a prospect. Even if you never do anything else, you should contact a 505 sailor and go for a ride. We will take anyone for a ride, even if you have never sailed before. Sailing is a wonderful sport and pastime. It can be extremely physically demanding in some boats, and can be very leisurely and relaxing in others. It is a sport and pastime that you can stay with for your entire life. 505 racing is on the high performance, wet, wild and exciting end of the range. It is also more intellectually challenging than (say) bungee jumping.
