Where to stay in Torekov for the 505 World Championships

The village of Torekov is a popular holiday destination in Sweden with people attracted to the beautiful beaches, picturesque walking trails and numerous activities the area has to offer. This means that there is a wide selection of accommodation alternatives to choose from when you come to the 2020 505 World Championships.

Torekov and the surrounding area offers a number of hotel options varying from luxury to more homely alternatives. If you’re travelling with family a hotel that offers a day-spa may be attractive while the racing is going on offshore, others may be more interested in those with a golf course nearby to get a few rounds in before the after-sail kicks off in the evening. Whatever your comfort level, there will be something that suits your tastes when you come to Torekov.

Guest houses and B&Bs

If you’re going to be focused on the yacht racing and just need somewhere comfortable to crash that offers a good, hot cup of coffee to kick start the day there is a number of guest houses and B&Bs in the Torekov area to choose from. Check the list provided for all of the options available in and around Torekov.

Camping grounds

Many sailors expressed interest in staying in their motorhomes at the regatta and one of the advantages of the move to Torekov is the camping ground located just a few hundred metres walk from the harbour. The camping ground offers cabins, motorhome facilities and tent sites in a lush, forested setting giving the feeling of being close to nature, even with the village just a short walk away.

Private Homes

Another option might be to rent an entire house for the regatta. There are many people that have holiday houses in Torekov that are available for rental through the summer. This could be the perfect option if you will be travelling with a larger family group or if you and a group of friends want to stay together for the regatta.

The Torekov tourist bureau has put together a helpful list of venues that are available during the regatta with many offering specials if you remember to use the unique event code provided. You can find the link to the list of different accommodation in Torekov here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CEaWfuWoXpoluHvkqQ32Ia_ZQ28F0eK4I7jTXin-zDc/edit?usp=sharing. Remember not to leave it to the last minute though, as Torekov is a popular place in the summertime my advice is to book as soon as possible once you have made up your mind to participate.

The two neighbouring coastal cities Båstad and Torekov are known for being some of Sweden’s most popular summer vacation destinations.

The Hallandåsen and Bjäre peninsula are home to some of the better road biking environments in Sweden.

Go hiking
We welcome you to a rare and beautiful place, with a wealth of hiking trails, activities, experiences and enjoyment. Around 130 kilometers of hiking trails can be found around Bjäre Peninsula. The combination of the hilly landscape of Hallandsåsen and sea gives you breathtaking views and sparkling sea.

Spend time relaxing
Visit the Kullaberg Nature Reserve: Few places in the Nordic region can match Kullen for the beauty of its natural landscape. With its breezy forests of beech and fir, its romantic grottoes, its vertiginous cliffs that plunge straight into the sea, its cliff-top views over mile after mile of bright blue water, every year Kullen has attracted a steadily increasing flow of visitors from far and wide.

I raced my first Swedish 505 Nationals in Torekov in 1972, with a racing fleet of 55 boats.
At that time we launched from the beach.

I hope to meet you all in Torekov next summer !
