We have an important announcement regarding the January 2021 Australian 505 Nationals.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and border closures, it has been decided that the best and safest option for everyone is to defer the 2021 505 Australian Nationals at DPSS Brisbane, to January 2022.

The January 2023 505 Australian Nationals will then be held in Batemans Bay NSW.

This does not mean that there won’t be a national competition at all in 2020/21! It will just be arranged a little differently…

Instead of the January 2021 505 National Championships, the Australian 505’s will be holding a ‘Not the Nationals Series’ (NNS) in Dec/Jan 2021.

The first 6 races results will combine into one overall national result with all the NNS regattas to decide the NNS winners.

The length of the course at each event will be 5.5nm. Timed finish of top 3 boats. Winner on elapsed time across all state events wins!

A case of Swings and Roundabouts wine will be awarded for each of the top 3 boats nationally. (Delivered to the home of each!) and other prizes tba.

There will also be the Downwind Start National Invitation Race trophy with a downwind start race as invitation race of each NNS regatta in each state.

QLD’s NNS contribution will be held on the 13/14th December 2020 in conjunction with the DPSS Battle for Trafalgar regatta and the QLD 505 state titles.

Dates and locations for other states are to be advised.

After all NNS regattas, we will join all the State’s results and videos/photos into a media presentation to publicise the fun we have regardless of the COVID restrictions!
