French Championship won by Philippe Boite/Pierre Jean Gallo
In light winds one more race was sailed on Sunday. Andy Smith/Tim Needham, GBR, won the race. As a consequence Boite/Gallo had to be better than 6th, to win over all. They finished 4th and thereby they became French Champions. Boite/Gallo have sailed a very nice series with no result worse than 7. Impressing.
Michael Quirk/Rob Woelfel, AUS/USA, had a bad day, finishing 21st. But due to their nice results earlier they could keep their total third place, just 2 points ahead of Ian Pinell/Alex Davies, GBR.
Less than two weeks before the world starts in Weymouth it must feel good for Boite/Gallo to win over the best British boats. On the other hand Smith/Needham has earlier proven to be very good in heavy conditions. Now they showed that they are just as good in lighter conditions - three wins out of nine races. Quirk/Woelfel has also been sailing nicely except for the last race. It is obvious that there are a number of teams ready to challenge the reigning World Champions Mike Holt/Carl Smit, USA.
